we've agreed to compromise on our differences and support each other through the years we have left.. i'm seeing a psychiatrist today to deal with my difficulties that stem from a traumatic and tumultuous childhood.. he is willing to yield in his beliefs that a man should control everything and make all the decisions.. being a stubborn jamaican, i realize how hard that is for him.. we're going to renovate the house so that he has his own quarters.. that way, my boisterous g'kids won't work his nerves too badly.. just wanted to put it out there.. syl.

i sincerely hope it works out and you both find mutual happiness. I also think that a word of caution about excusing old ways that might resurface and begin to grow ( the control issue) don't give it an inch.

not trying to be intrusive just don't allow yourself to get hurt.

MY best childhood memories were in the summer at the seashore. I was not raised a jw so i had leisurely summers running in the waves, building sandcastles, playing ping pong and listening to records it was great fun and at night we would sit in the lifeguard stand and look at the stars. It seemed like it lasted a long time .

Saturday Morning Musings ...

one hot, hot thursday, in july of 1987, i worked a half day, drove from wilcox county to mobile county to pick up a sister, then hit i-10 for new orleans to attend the convention which began the next day.. the evening traffic was unbelievable; when i finally arrived and pulled into our hotel parking lot, i was shaking like a leaf in the wind.

we checked in, and after showering, i fell into bed and slept like a drunk person.. the next morning, friday, was a complete blur as we made our way to the superdome.

i don't remember anything that was discussed that day, just the searing heat as we returned to the hotel.. after a long shower, i again fell into a deep slumber.

Oh how I dreaded those conventions and what was especially annoying and when I began to realize that i was beginning to pull away were all those prelimnary talks about "anticipation" and all the phoney "I can't wait or It's coming just in time because I really need it".

As I realized they were worthless and was so happy it was over I thought somethings wrong here.

Now it's all in the past and saturdays mornings are so relaxing sitting in my recliner drinking coffee looking out the window at the park across the street. Thinking about what interesting things should we do today?
